syl·la·ble

I know my voice is soft and timid, but please look at me when I speak to you. You don't know how much strength it takes me to say the meager things I do. Can't you see the effort I put into each syllable?
And today I've gathered the courage, to raise my voice just a bit, to talk to you. Though, I don't have the faintest idea why. I guess it's a mixture of impatience and frustration.
I may choke on my words and often stutter, but pay attention, don't ignore me. Please, listen to my words--and not the silence inbetween them.
